On Oct. 8th, SGA partnered with the RHA Food Committee to sponsor a General Assembly around the topic of food on campus, with IIT Dining Services General Manager Wendy Surak and Marketing Director Eddie Skidmore. With over 30 students and 10 staff in attendance, many issues were covered during the general assembly and for full coverage, email sga@iit.edu or food@iit.edu to get more info. Some of the main issues discussed included use of the meal plans. Many students aren't on the meal plan best suited for them, and if students go and talk with Wendy or Eddie (email dining@iit.edu) they will consult on choosing the best meal plan for any particular student; they are very willing to talk with students about individual needs. At the beginning of the semester there was talk about a potential Greek meal plan, but when freshman were able to move into the houses, discussion ceased. After the General Assembly, those talks have resumed and IIT and some Greek leaders are working out the details for a potential plan. Many thanks go out to IIT Dining Services for discussing their positions with students, as well as Senator Tim Lipman, SGA officers, and the RHA Food Committee for help in planning this event.
